PASSION PROJECTS
In my free time I enjoy many other fun creative outlets including model building/storytelling, painting, furniture design/construction and wood carving, etc. You can view process and finished projects @maasmodels.
Modelling is still important. Whether it’s a scrap of paper or a napkin, it represents the rawest form of an idea and the departure of creation.
There is a true beauty of spirit and imagination when we make things with our hands, heart, and soul. Modelling is a pure art, thought, craft, creativity, and design exercise that's inspired by and inspires all art forms: design, culture, fashion, engineering, and narrative story telling.
While many iconic stories have been brought to life by modelling—Star Wars, Star Trek, Dick Tracy, etc.—it's become an antiquated craft. But lately it's made a resurgence in film, television, and media, filling in the gaps that digital art (fake art) is not meeting for many directors, designers, creative thinkers, and entrepreneurs.
It's fun and forward-thinking—in its purist form it's a vision into the future of evolving technologies. The thought process and innovation began as a model for larger challenges and leaps in humanity for thinkers like Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, Elon Musk, and Henry Ford.
It's an exciting, broad community, with passionate model makers across the world. We help each other, sharing insights and talents—unifying across, borders, races and all talent
We have kissed the sky—to understand the universe in its smallest form we can comprehend. And it’s only the beginning. Model makers can recall the past and help see the future. To innovate we must make a model of ourselves and what our future can be.
